In June 2023, OIF Ventures invested in Visory. We founded the company on a bet that AI would reach the point where it could run the finance function of growing businesses, augmenting human labour. They liked our "service as a software" thesis and the idea that SMBs don't want more accounting software to operate, they want the work done. OIF decided to back us on our vision.
OIF Ventures backs companies from seed to Series A and stays in for the later rounds, and it describes itself as patient capital for building generational companies. Its portfolio includes Go1, Advanced Navigation, Kasada and Eftsure, and it backed Instaclustr through to its acquisition by NetApp.
That record is why OIF was the right fit for Visory. It had helped Australian founders take software companies into global markets, it was comfortable with a business that sells the work done rather than the tool, and it was prepared to wait for the models to arrive.
Beyond the capital
Beyond the capital, we gained a partner. Jerry Stesel, one of OIF's founding partners, and Ollie Darwin, have worked alongside the Visory team since the investment.
OIF has opened doors as well, to customers, to partners and to the people we needed to meet as Visory grew from Melbourne into the United States. It has stayed with us through every change in how we deliver the work, and the thesis it backed in June 2023 is the one we are still building.
